COMMISSIONERS COURT APPROVES 28.3 MILLION FOR BOB HALL PIER INCLUDING MORE FUNDS FOR FIRST FLOOR RESTAURANT SPACE EXPANSION
The Nueces County Commissioners Court approved additional funding of 2 million dollars for Bob Hall Pier specifically to expand the first floor restaurant space on my motion on a 5-0 vote. This is yet another great win for the Island and all of Nueces County. We should rejoice in this amazing victory for Nueces County. THANK YOU to the Nueces County Commissioners Court. The Court has voted 5-0 for every single vote taken regarding Bob Hall Pier. This shows the court’s dedication to improving our community and especially to rebuild Bob Hall Pier in a big way. These are exciting times. Nueces County is moving forward 100 percent on getting Bob Hall Pier rebuilt in epic fashion and this recent commitment to the first floor expansion is the icing on the cake.
I am so appreciative of the Nueces County Coastal Parks Board for all they do for our Nueces County assets and the Parks Board recommendation was followed very closely by the Nueces County Commissioners Court in regard to Bob Hall Pier. Expanding the first floor will be efficient, stable and provide an outstanding return of investment for Nueces County and a great quality of life.
To all that I have visited with who have no dog in the fight I was convinced that expanding the first floor space made total sense from a return on investment standpoint as well as from a design and long term maintenance standpoint. This was the proposal on the table for the court to consider and they overwhelmingly approved it. THANK YOU!
Let me also provide an update on the issues relating to the surfers concerns over the design. We are pricing out using two columns instead of one and will bring back those findings to the Commissioners Court so we can also have a discussion on that very important issue. I have been working closely with the Surf Riders, the design team and others to make sure we look very closely at this issue. That is the only real issue to be resolved. All else has been voted on and we are moving forward once the pier column issue is finalized. It is time to move forward on this and move toward construction. It is time to rejoice and watch as we rebuild an amazing Bob Hall pier. Stay tuned on this. I am excited!
I have asked for Jacobs engineering to bring a detailed cost analysis on the pier so the court can see what they are getting. Unfortunately the rendering that keeps getting shown on TV is not the final product but there will be one out soon. The court has voted. We are moving forward. The only issue to be resolved is the one column versus two and looking to make sure we have not overspent or over designed anything. I am watching your tax dollars closely and will continue to do so. Bob Hall Pier will be epic and I am excited and appreciative of the Commissioners Court and the community that has rallied around the positive outcome we have achieved. Thanks and have a blessed day!
